BLACKPOOL (BOROUGH ROAD) GREYHOUND STADIUM

This site is not an official website for the track shown here and is neither approved or endorsed by the stadium. I am indebted to Richard English for helping to construct this page.

The independent greyhound track in the Lancashire seaside town of Blackpool was at Borough Park situated at 3° 2' W 53° 48' N. Greyhound racing shared its facilities with the local rugby league team and held its inaugural meeting on 28th April 1967.

The track had a circumference of 363 metres, with sprint races run over 250 metres, standard races over 593 metres, and distance races over 765 metres. Racing was well supported with meetings taking place 3 times weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The principal race at the track was the Blackpool Derby. Racing continued at the track until the 1988 and the multiplex cinema now stands on the site of the old track.

This section gives a comprehensive picture of the badges produced by the track throughout the ages, but only provides the briefest of glimpses of its history. For those wishing to undertake further research we can recommend a visit to
